At the end of this program, GPs will be better able to:
- Discuss the causes of insomnia and the range of appropriate management options
- Identify the ways in which ageing can impact on sleep in people over the age of 55 and diagnose insomnia disorder in this population
- Counsel patients to assist in the self-management of insomnia to optimise quality of life
- Explain the mechanism and role of prolonged release melatonin in the treatment of insomnia in people over 55 years of age
