Learning objectives
At the conclusion of this session the learner will be able to:
- Explain the epidemiology, pathophysiology and natural history of chronic hepatitis B;
- Identify the poor health outcomes associated with hepatitis B disease progression, including increasing liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, end-stage liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma;
- List the different serologic and fibrosis assessment tests for diagnosis and monitoring; and
- Apply the current recommendations relating to the management and treatment of chronic hepatitis B in Canada.
