Le cancer de la peau est le type de cancer le plus fréquent, et on constate une augmentation de l’incidence des cancers de la peau de type mélanome ou non-mélanome. Le cancer de la peau non-mélanome est le cancer le plus fréquemment diagnostiqué au Canada, mais on ne dispose pas de statistiques plus spécifiques à ce sujet, car il est difficile de suivre l’évolution des cancers de ce type. On estime que 8 000 Canadiens recevront un diagnostic de mélanome et que 1 300 Canadiens en mourront en 2020. Les médecins de premier recours peuvent contribuer à améliorer les résultats des patients en facilitant le diagnostic et la prise en charge précoces du cancer de la peau.


Ce programme de formation a fait l’objet d’une bourse à visée éducative ou d’un soutien en nature de la part de Melanoma Canada.
