Achieving A1C Targets with Fixed Ratio Combination Therapy (A1C-Fix) CME
Fixed Ratio Combinations (FRC) of basal insulin and GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA) provide patients with type 2 diabetes a combination of two injectable antihyperglycemic agents with complementary mechanisms of action in a single injection. The use of FRC has been shown to be more effective than either component alone with a lower risk of adverse effects for both basal insulin and GLP-1 RA.The first part of this program will provide pharmacists with a background of these medications and some key counselling tips. The second half will review common patient cases where FRC may be considered.
